About NES

For over a century the Norwich Engineering Society has been a foundation in the East Anglian engineering sector. Members, with interests across the myriads of engineering disciplines, meet together in a forum for the exchange of ideas and experiences.

The aim of the society is to promote engineering knowledge through a widespread programme of talks, seminars and site visits related to advances and achievements in the engineering world today.

The comprehensive and diverse range of topics covered by often world class individuals and groups is an opportunity to see and hear about both the latest innovations and historical engineering pioneers.

The society is not just about seminars and exclusive site visits. The society has a wealth of experience and expertise within its broadening membership and offers its members the ability to network, seek support, and mentorship through other's knowledge and experience that can add value to individuals at any stage in their engineering career.

Our long-term aim is to sustain and grow engineering in the region and beyond, not just as a special interest, but as a key contributor to society, through education, innovation and integration.

With broad topic bases looking to the future such as; digital communications, AI, green energy, space exploration and historical innovations looking at: first human flight, television and the pioneers of the industrial revolution, the society is attractive for anyone with an interest or active in engineering whether student or seasoned professional alike.

Membership is great value, whether member or corporate member and gives you access to the society’s historical back catalogue of lectures, seminars and of course the knowledge of its members.

Today the society successfully attracts members from across the Eastern Region despite its Norwich namesake. With many lectures being hybrid, both in person and on-line, there are no geographical boundaries to membership. We are joined by people from all around the world as well as those in person who enjoy informal engineering discussion with colleagues - there's a lot to look forward to.

If you are at all interested in engineering, then Membership of the Norwich Engineering Society is for you!
